PureVPN is a VPN service and Android app that aims to keep users' online activity private through anonymization methods.

It's no secret that there are many free VPN services for Android devices. However, not all VPNs are trustworthy, and some of the ones that are run at very slow speeds without payment. Here, we'll look at the trustworthiness, speed, and security of the PureVPN service as well as the application architecture itself to determine whether installing PureVPN on your Android device is worth it or not.

Unlike some VPN models, PureVPN only has a free trial. It does not have a generally free service, but the free trial service is very high quality. The app is technically freeware because it's free to download and install, but the corresponding service it requires is not. PureVPN's speed tests were generally proportionate with the VPN industry standards. Since it contains more than 450 servers in more than 90 countries, there's no question whether you'll be able to find a connection in the country you need. Of course, ping to countries further away will be higher, but there's no real way for a VPN company to fix this.

Unlike some smaller VPN companies that require users to install OpenVPN and manage VPN profiles by themselves, PureVPN takes care of this entire process for you. Other than downloading the app, hitting a few buttons, and accepting a few permissions, the installation process is entirely automated. This feature can save a lot of heartache for some users, especially those who are inexperienced with VPNs.

Some users migrating over from Mac will be disappointed to see there are no "add-ons" available on the Android version. For those who don't know, the Mac version of this app allowed add-ons that extended the functionality of PureVPN greatly. However, over time, the developers of PureVPN have inserted a lot of the third-party add-ons directly into the Android app, so this has become less of a concern over the years.

One of the more interesting features of the PureVPN app is that it allows for "split tunneling." This means that users can specify which apps they would like to use the VPN for. For example, a user might use a certain browser for private activities and another one for business activities. In this case, the user could specify that they would like the first browser to be protected by the VPN but not the second one. The user could also use so-called "geolocked" apps that are covered by the VPN to trick them into thinking the user comes from an authorized country. This feature appeared to work flawlessly, even when apps were running at the same time.

Finally, PureVPN is a great service, but it is not entirely free. The app itself is well-designed and free to install. Beyond three days, however, users will need to decide whether they would like to pay for the service.
